Questions People Actually Ask

My addiction started with a prescription. Is that common?

Very common. Many of our patients started with legitimate prescriptions for pain after surgery or an injury. It doesn't matter how it started. What matters is getting help now.

How bad is opioid withdrawal?

It's uncomfortable. Muscle aches, nausea, sweating, anxiety, insomnia. It feels like a bad flu that won't quit. The good news is medication can eliminate most of these symptoms within hours.

How long until I feel normal?

Most people feel significant relief within hours of starting Suboxone® or Methadone. The acute withdrawal phase typically lasts 5-7 days, but with medication, it's manageable. Full stabilization usually takes a few weeks.

Will I be on medication forever?

Not necessarily. Some people taper off after months or years. Others stay on medication long-term because it works for them. There's no wrong answer. It depends on what keeps you stable and healthy.

What’s the difference between Suboxone® and Methadone?

Both effectively control opioid cravings and withdrawal. Methadone can start same day regardless of withdrawal status. Suboxone® requires you to be in withdrawal before starting. We'll help you decide what's best for your situation.

Will I get high on Suboxone® or Methadone?

No. When dosed correctly, these medications don't get you high. They stop withdrawal symptoms and cravings so you can think clearly and function normally.
