What Is an Intensive Outpatient Program?

An IOP gives you real, structured addiction treatment without putting your life on hold. You attend counseling several days a week and go home after each session. At our Hurst clinic, that adds up to about nine hours a week across three visits, and you sleep in your own bed every night.

Each visit includes group counseling, one-on-one time with your counselor, and hands-on practice for the moments cravings or stress hit hardest.

Groups stay at 12 or fewer, led by our Texas-licensed counselor. Your group includes neighbors from across the Mid-Cities: a parent from Bedford, a nurse from North Richland Hills, a warehouse worker from Euless.

9+ Hours

of structured counseling each week

Small Groups

Twelve people or fewer, led by a licensed counselor

Less time away, real progress

You get real clinical care here, then practice it in daily life, not just in a counseling room.

Hurst IOP: Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)?

An IOP is therapy you attend on set days, no overnight stay. You get group and one-on-one counseling three times a week while living at home. At our Hurst clinic, that’s nine hours total, and you’re done by 12:15 PM.

How does the Hurst IOP work week to week?

You come three times a week. Mornings run Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:15 PM. The virtual evening track runs Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 5:30 PM to 8:45 PM. Each visit opens with a check-in, then group therapy, then skills or one-on-one time.

How much of my week does IOP actually take?

Plan on about three hours per visit, nine hours total across your three sessions. Mornings finish by 12:15 PM, so your afternoons stay open. You can also book extra one-on-one counseling, with no limit.

Can I do your Hurst IOP if I work in Fort Worth or at DFW Airport?

Yes, the schedule is built for working people. Morning sessions end by 12:15 PM, and the virtual evening track runs after most shifts. Plenty of our patients commute from the airport corridor, downtown Fort Worth, and the Mid-Cities logistics warehouses.

Does the virtual evening IOP work if I live outside Hurst?

Yes, it works well. The evening track is fully virtual, so patients in Keller, Grapevine, Colleyville, and Southlake join from home. You only drive to Harwood Court for your assessment and any medication visits.

How is your Hurst IOP different from Groups Recover Together in Bedford?

We offer more frequency and structure, three-day-a-week group therapy instead of weekly, and on-site psychiatry for depression, anxiety, or trauma. Both Methadone and Suboxone® are available at our clinic. You also receive unlimited one-on-one counseling. One team coordinates everything so you don’t bounce between programs.

What if I miss a session?

Call us at (866) 287-5921 as soon as you can. We help you slot into another group or set up a one-on-one catch-up so you do not fall behind. Life happens, and the team plans around it with you.

What happens after I finish IOP at your Hurst clinic?

You step down to weekly counseling or less frequent check-ins. You and your counselor decide this together. You can stay in IOP longer if you need it. Same team the whole way, no switching providers.

Can I attend IOP while taking Methadone or Suboxone® here?

Yes, you take your medication and attend IOP at the same Symetria Recovery clinic in Hurst. Your counselor and medical provider coordinate both, so you are not running two separate programs in two places.

How do I start IOP at your Hurst clinic?

Call (866) 287-5921 to set up an assessment, often the same day or the next. A counselor and medical provider review your history and confirm IOP is the right fit. Then they place you in the next morning or evening group. Admissions answer 24/7.

Looking into an IOP for Someone You Love?

If your loved one will not consider residential treatment, IOP gives them a real way to get help without leaving home, work, or family. Call us and we will help you start the conversation.
