New Year, New Me?

Back to Blog Articles

You have heard it before; the New Year is filled with promise. Every year we promise ourselves a year full of goals and personal development.

What about those in recovery? Recovery is not about perfection but about progress.

Instead of setting resolutions this year, the focus should be on working whatever program you are in. We are passionate about helping each individual make it another day in their recovery. This year let’s not set a “New Year’s Resolution” but let’s focus on getting through each day without the drug of choice or addictive activity.

Being in recovery is not easy and there are days, like New Year’s Eve, that make it a little bit harder. So how can you make it another day in your recovery this New Year’s Eve?

Some things you can do to this year is:

  • Lean on loved ones for support
  • Plan your evening by doing your favorite hobby
  • Join local support meetings (both in-person or virtual) and surround yourselves with a community
  • Communicate to someone when you need help

Focus every day on how you are living and continue working your recovery program. You can make it another day in your recovery journey.

“Symetria has helped me a lot, and there’s been nights where I couldn’t sleep because I’m so excited for another day to be sober and to be happy.”
