What Is an Intensive Outpatient Program?

An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) gives you nine hours of structured group and one-on-one counseling each week. You keep a part-time schedule that fits work, school, and family.

In Arlington, the whole program runs online. Join a morning or evening group three days a week from home, a break room, or anywhere in the Metroplex with a private signal.

Each group stays small, 12 patients or fewer, led by a Texas-licensed counselor. Sessions mix discussion, one-on-one time, and skills for the moments cravings hit hardest.

When the call ends, you are already where you need to be.

Counselor-led group counseling plus individual sessions

An IOP is full clinical treatment on a working-life schedule

Online does not mean lighter. Same counselors, same clinical work, same group, minus the commute.

What Happens Each Session:
Group therapy with the same small group each week Individual counseling, psychoeducation, and coping skills Peer support and practical strategies you can use the same week
Duration Note: Nine to twelve weeks is typical, but you stay as long as you need. You and your counselor decide when to move to weekly care.
Change jobs, keep your spot.
Because sessions are online, a new shift or a move across the Metroplex will not interrupt your treatment.

Is This Program Right for You?

An IOP gives you clinical support on a schedule you can keep. It might be right for you if:

You can fit three virtual mornings or evenings into your week.
You cannot step away from work or family for residential treatment.
You need more support than a weekly counseling session.
You finished detox or residential care and need ongoing support.
You have a stable, private space to join from.
You can commit to three virtual sessions a week.

You do not have to check every box. At intake, your counselor and medical provider help you find the right level, even if that is weekly care or a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).

Arlington IOP: Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)?

An IOP is structured group and individual counseling for people who need more than a weekly session. Ours runs fully online, three times a week, nine hours total, mornings or evenings.

Does the Arlington IOP have morning and evening options?

Both tracks are virtual. Join a morning group Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, or an evening group Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Each runs nine hours a week, so treatment fits around your day.

How do I get to the Arlington IOP without a car?

You do not need to travel for the IOP itself. Every group session is virtual, joined from home. If you come in for intake or medication, free Uber Health rides and the Via Arlington app are available. Ask when you call 866-955-2481.

How does the Arlington IOP work week to week?

You attend three virtual sessions a week on your chosen track. Each session blends group therapy, individual counseling, psychoeducation, and skills practice. Outside of group, you can schedule unlimited one-on-one sessions with your counselor.

How long does an IOP last?

Most patients complete an IOP in nine to twelve weeks, but there is no set end date. You can stay longer if you need to. When you are steady, you move to weekly outpatient care, and you and your counselor decide that together.

What is the difference between inpatient, PHP, and an IOP?

Inpatient and partial hospitalization programs involve more hours and, for inpatient, living at a facility. An IOP gives you at least nine hours of care a week while you live at home. It is the middle step that lets you keep your routine while still getting intensive support.

Can I do the Arlington IOP while taking Methadone or Suboxone®?

Yes, you can join sessions and take Methadone or Suboxone® at the same Arlington clinic. Your counselor and medical provider coordinate your medication and counseling so that both work together.

What happens on my first day of the Arlington IOP?

Your first visit is an intake assessment with your care team, where you talk through your history and goals. After intake, you join the next group session, virtual morning or evening.

Does insurance cover the Arlington IOP?

Most commercial insurance and Medicare plans cover IOPs, including virtual sessions. Coverage depends on your plan’s outpatient mental health benefits. Call 866-955-2481 with your insurance card, and our team verifies benefits in minutes before you commit.

How do I enroll in the Arlington IOP?

Call 866-955-2481 to schedule your intake assessment. Our admissions team answers 24/7, and assessments can usually be set the same day or the next day. After your intake, you join the next virtual morning or evening session.
