Suboxone clinics are medical centers specially licensed and monitored to prescribe buprenorphine medication (including the brand name Suboxone). Suboxone is used to treat opioid use disorder, which includes addiction to heroin, oxycodone (OxyContin, Percocet), hydrocodone (Vicodin), morphine, fentanyl, codeine and carfentanil. At Symetria, Suboxone is given out by the medical team at the on-site pharmacy to avoid issues with public pharmacies refusing to fill Suboxone prescriptions.
A methadone clinic is the only place that can distribute methadone for opioid addiction. Symetria offers a methadone program but is much more than typical methadone clinics.
