The Symetria Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

What Is an Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program?
IOP, or Intensive Outpatient Program, is a treatment component for drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health conditions that offers comprehensive therapy in a real-world setting. Unlike inpatient rehab, where patients must remain on-site, IOPs allow individuals to live at home in a familiar environment while receiving structured care. Patients typically attend their chosen clinic three days a week, for a combination of group and individual therapy sessions. These programs generally last between four to twelve weeks.

How Do Intensive Outpatient Drug and Alcohol Addiction Programs Work?
The goal of a drug and alcohol addiction IOP is to provide patients with the support needed to maintain recovery during the first few months of their journey when the risk of relapse is highest. Through guided discussions on triggers and other relapse-related factors, patients can identify key challenges and develop effective coping strategies. These evidence-based methods aim to help individuals break the mental cycles of addiction, equipping them with the skills needed to achieve long-term recovery.
