Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) involves the use of methadone or Suboxone®, combined with therapy to treat opioid addiction. MAT is recommended by every major health organization – including the World Health Organization (WHO), the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
