According to the American Society of Addiction Medicine, approximately 2 million Americans are addicted to opioid prescription pain medication, with some of the most common examples including Duragesic (fentanyl), OxyContin (oxycodone), Vicodin (hydrocodone/acetaminophen), and Dilaudid (hydromorphone). It is also estimated that roughly one quarter of opioid addicts will also become addicted to heroin.

Whether the root cause is physical pain, emotional pain, or a combination of both factors, an addiction to opioids or heroin can destroy your career, your friendships and your romantic relationships. Addiction can cause financial problems, damage precious bonds with your family and even result in your death.

At Symetria Recovery®, Chicago’s premier opioid addiction recovery centers, we understand that there are many reasons why people avoid seeking help for opioid prescription pain medication or heroin addictions. Perhaps you have experienced some of them for yourself. You may be concerned that getting treatment will force you to miss too much time at work, causing you to lose your job and your ability to support your loved ones. You may feel like you are past the point of recovery. You may be worried about going through painful withdrawal symptoms.

We recognize that withdrawal, which occurs when a person stops using opioids or heroin, is a major challenge for people who otherwise feel ready to seek treatment. Symetria Recovery® provides a variety of medications, including Suboxone®, to eliminate the effects of withdrawal. Without the pain, nausea and sickness that is caused by un-medicated withdrawal, it becomes easier and more comfortable for patients to break the cycle of addiction and focus fully on recovery.

If you or a loved one is addicted to opioids or heroin, we urge you to contact Symetria Recovery® for immediate relief from withdrawal and to begin treatment. Our team of medical professionals dispenses Suboxone® to patients struggling with withdrawal as part of a holistic treatment program that includes behavioral counseling. With locations in Des Plaines, Lakeview, Highland Park, Naperville and Palos Heights, Symetria Recovery® provides convenient and confidential outpatient heroin addiction treatment and opioid addiction treatment throughout the Chicagoland area. For a free and confidential consultation, or to learn more about the benefits of Suboxone®, call us today at (888) 782-6966.

Suboxone Treatment for Painkiller and Heroin Addiction

Suboxone® is one of several medications that research has shown to be effective in treating opioid prescription pain medication and heroin addiction. There are two active ingredients in Suboxone®: buprenorphine, an opioid which is also contained in Bunavail®, Probuphine®, Subutex® and Zubsolv®; and naloxone (also known as “Narcan”), a medication that works to reverse the effects of opioid overdose. In addition to Suboxone®, naloxone is also contained in Zubsolv® and Bunavail®.

Suboxone® is a “sublingual film,” which simply means it’s a strip that goes under your tongue. The strip gradually dissolves, releasing naloxone and buprenorphine into your system.

Suboxone has two major benefits that make this medication ideal for aiding in addiction recovery:

  1. Suboxone® prevents the effects of heroin withdrawal and opioid withdrawal. With Suboxone® treatment at Symetria Recovery®, you will not have to worry about the pain and sickness caused by going through withdrawal.
  2. Suboxone® helps reduce cravings for opioids and heroin. With your cravings under control, it will be easier to start putting your addiction behind you.

Every patient’s course of treatment is slightly different. However, patients commonly begin their treatment with Suboxone® to reduce or eliminate cravings. This can later be substituted with Probuphine® (buprenorphine) implants and, eventually, monthly injections of Vivitrol® (naltrexone) to provide longer-term stability.
