What Happens Each Session:
Group therapy with the same familiar faces each time One-on-one counseling or skills practice Coping strategies you can use this week
Duration Note: Most people finish nine to 12 weeks. But there’s no deadline. You and your counselor decide when you’re ready to step down or stay longer.
Your schedule will change. The program can, too.
If the semester or your shift changes, talk to our team about which track fits now.

Is an IOP Right for You?

If weekly counseling is not enough but residential care is more than you need, an IOP fills the gap. IOP might be right for you if:

You can fit three mornings or evenings into your week.
Residential treatment doesn’t work for you.
You need more than once a week counseling.
You finished detox/inpatient and need ongoing care.
You have a steady place to come home to each night.
You are ready to show up consistently, even when motivation dips.

Not sure if all of these apply to you?

That is fine. Bring your questions to intake, and you will leave knowing the right next step.

College Station IOP: Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)?

IOP is therapy you attend on set days, with no overnight stay. You get group and one-on-one counseling three times a week while living at home. At our College Station clinic, that’s nine hours total, done by 12:15 PM.

How does the College Station IOP work week to week?

You attend three sessions a week. Mornings run Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:15 PM, and a virtual evening track runs Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 5:30 PM. Each session blends group therapy, individual counseling, psychoeducation, and skills practice.

Does the College Station IOP have evening or virtual sessions?

We run a virtual evening IOP Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 5:30 PM to 8:45 PM. You join from home, which works well for Texas A&M students, day-shift workers, and anyone driving in from across the Brazos Valley.

How long does an IOP last?

Most patients complete an IOP in nine to twelve weeks, but there is no set end date. You can stay longer if you need to. When you are steady, you move to weekly outpatient care, and you and your counselor decide that together.

What is the difference between inpatient, a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), and an IOP?

These are three levels of care. Inpatient means living at a treatment center full time. A Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is daytime treatment most of the week, but you sleep at home. An IOP includes at least nine hours of counseling a week while you keep your normal routine. For many people, an IOP is the right balance of support and freedom.

Can I join an IOP while taking Methadone or Suboxone®?

You can take Methadone or Suboxone® and attend IOP sessions at the same College Station clinic. Your counselor and our medical team coordinate care from one chart, so your medication and counseling stay in sync.

What happens on my first day of IOP?

Your first visit is an intake assessment with your counselor and our medical team, where you talk through your history and goals. After intake, you join the next group session, morning or virtual evening, and meet the small group you will work alongside.

What if I miss an IOP session?

Call our team at (866) 955-2481 as soon as you can. We help you reschedule into another session or set up a one-on-one catch-up so you do not fall behind. Missing a session is part of life, and the team plans around it with you.

Does insurance cover IOP at your College Station clinic?

Most commercial insurance and Medicare plans cover IOPs. Coverage depends on your plan’s outpatient mental health benefits. Call (866) 955-2481 with your insurance card, and our team verifies benefits in minutes before you commit.

How do I enroll in IOP in College Station?

Call (866) 955-2481 to schedule your intake assessment. Our admissions team answers seven days a week, and assessments can usually be set the same day or the next day. Bring your insurance card and any current medication information, then join the next IOP session.

Can I do the College Station IOP around classes at Texas A&M or Blinn College?

Yes, you can. Morning groups run Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and finish by 12:15 PM, and the virtual evening track runs after the workday. Students at Texas A&M and Blinn College can fit either option around class and work.

Can I join the virtual evening IOP from Bryan, Navasota, or elsewhere in the Brazos Valley?

Yes, you can join from home. The virtual evening track reaches Bryan, Navasota, Hearne, Caldwell, and the rest of the Brazos Valley, so you only travel to Rock Prairie Road for your assessment and any medication visits.

Do I have to come to the Rock Prairie Road clinic in person for the IOP?

For the morning track, yes, those groups meet on Rock Prairie Road. The evening track is fully virtual, so you join from home. You choose whichever fits your week, and your assessment happens on-site either way.

Helping a Loved One Find an IOP in College Station?

An IOP is often the compromise a family can agree on: real treatment without leaving home. We can help you make that case gently.
